keatsThe Snowy Day Stamp

The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation launched a campaign to have the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the Citizens' Advisory Committee select The Snowy Day, written in 1962, as a subject for a stamp.  The book introduced Peter, the first African-American protagonist as the central character in a picture book. If selected, the stamp will appear in 2012, the 50th anniversary of the book, which won the Caldecott Medal in 1963.
