Terrible Yellow Eyes

Terrible Yellow Eyes is a collection of works inspired by Maurice Sendak's classic picture book, Where the Wild Things Are. The pieces pay tribute to Sendak's life and legacy. Each work reimagines a scene from the book in a different context. One of the most striking is "Come Visit the Wild" by Patrick Ballesteros. In the painting, Max and one of the Wild Things sit atop a billboard, which invites the curious to visit the land of the Wild Things.

Terrible Yellow Eyes features the work of select group of contributing artists, chosen by Cory Godbey, who is also the brainchild behind the project. Most striking, and a true testament to the influence Sendak's book has had on a generation of illustrators, is the different media employed in the individual tributes.

Fans of Where the Wild Things Are will enjoy exploring the collection as the love and admiration the contributing artists have for Sendak's work is clearly evident in each offering.
